Shakespeare Magic – There is magic in the air… Fairies wreaking havoc on Hamlet? Witches telling prophesies in Twelfth Night? Beatrice meeting… a ghost?!? Anything can happen at Silicon Valley Shakespeare’s fifth annual 48-hour festival, co-produced with the Foothill College Theatre Arts Department, where our writers will explore what happens when a bit of magic gets thrown into the wrong Shakespeare classic!
Greatest Hits of the 48-Hour Play Festival – Winner, winner, chicken dinner… The audiences voted and these were their favorites! This spring fundraiser will celebrate the original work that was born from the mad rush of Silicon Valley Shakespeare’s past 48-hour play festivals. Come enjoy the top two scripts from Shakespearean Epilogues, Shakespeare Mash-Up, CyberShakes, & ShakeSportsas we fully produce them for your viewing pleasure and support Free Shakespeare in the Park at the same time!
A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Love is even more complicated when you add magic! While the king and queen of the fairies, Oberon and Titania are quarreling, Oberon’s right-hand sprite, Puck, is ready for mischief… and with humans such as the young Athenian lovers running about and the troupe of amateur actors trying to rehearse a play for the Duke’s nuptial day in the middle of the fairy’s forest, it couldn’t be easier. Silicon Valley Shakespeare’s all-female cast presents this family friendly comedy full of whimsy and wonder for FREE in Willow St. Park!
Macbeth – On his journey home, the war-hero Macbeth receives a prophecy from three witches that he will be King. But why wait for fate to come, when you can take matters into your own hands? Consumed with ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth takes what he believes to be his through murder and treachery. This hero turned villain truly is one of Shakespeare’s most fascinating anti-heroes whose tragic path leads us down a road of deceit, bloodshed, madness and revenge.
The White Snake – In this beloved Chinese legend, a snake spirit disguised as a beautiful woman falls in love with a young scholar. White Snake keeps her true identity secret from him, but a disapproving monk persists in unmasking her. With the help of Green Snake, White Snake summons all her magic powers to defeat the spirits and monsters threatening her life and her great love. Playwright Mary Zimmerman, a Tony award-winning adapter, takes us on a fantastical journey in this innovative retelling of an ancient Chinese tale.
